Campaign embellishment and downplay
The 1990s were a long time ago. Most of us had braces and our first crush around that time, but it seems that it wasn’t long ago enough to not come back to haunt politicians. First Hillary says she was under sniper fire when she visited Bosnia during her husband’s time in office. It came out soon after that Clinton was never under sniper fire. She tembellished this story, no doubt, to highlight her foreign relations experience and to draw parallels to her service and McCain’s. This comment has grown into the accusation that Clinton is a big, fat liar.
In 1996 Obama completed a survey about his views on issues. In the survey he expresses views that are far more liberal than the ones he talks about now. At first he said that he didn’t complete the survey himself and that one of his aides must’ve done it. Then the actual survey was found and his handwriting was all over it. Now concerns are arising that Obama is downplaying how liberal he really is.
Everyone knows that "embellish" and "downplay" are just the media’s way of saying "he or she is lying" and its only a matter of time before they actually just call it a lie. These politicians should watch how they portray themselves so they don’t keep getting caught in lies.
