Beanie Sigel Bites The Hand That Once Fed Him…Jay-Z Diss Track

Once upon a time, Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel were as tight as a first day full weave but those times are no more. Late last night, DJ Kay Slay premiered a new track by Beans called “I Ain’t Ya Average” and he’s going in on the homie Hov.
So why all the hostility? Word has it that Hov pulled a Sean Combs and wouldn’t release Beans from his Def Jam contract. Damn, shit is about to get ugly for real. Check out Beanie’s explanation here.

GFD On the Town: Montgomery and Tonnie’s Minis
This week was poppin in Harlem. Tonnie’s Minis had their grand opening on Monday and Montgomery had a huge shopping event last night. Clearly, GFD had to stop by both parties with cameras in hand:
Tonnie’s Minis (123rd and Lenox; http://www.tonniesminis.com/)
Tonnis Minis Display of Deliciousness

You can make your own cupcake there!

They have an adorable backyard too.
Great mini documentary about Tonnie’s Minis:
Sidenote: those cupcakes are bangin, like “good god” bangin…
Montgomery (136th and 7th Avenue; http://montgomeryboutique.com)

Montgomery was packed!

The night had a South African theme.

Meet Montgomery, the owner

S.Dot and CIA with our girl Patty Hughes!

We had to get a shot with our buddy Montgomery too. Congrats ladies, great event!

Sidenote: Mongomery always has some great dresses and jewelry. Stop in often because there’s only one of everything in the store! She also just got a new set of guys blazers from a new designer OC…

Tyler Perry doesn’t appreciate Spike Lee’s criticism
So of course Spike Lee has criticized Tyler Perry for his Madea movies and his impersonation of the fictional, loud mouth, gun-toting matriarch. Spike Lee thinks of Tyler Perry’s acting of Madea as “cooning.” Of course Tyler Perry didn’t appreciate the criticism. But #cmonson. We know what cooning looks like and Madea is definitely cooning. Case in point:
However, all of the Madea movies are pretty positive (once you get past the physically and emotionally abused women, the triflin’ husbands, and displaced children) and Tyler Perry is one of the only black directors out there making movies about black people and for black people with a national distribution of his films. I can see how he would feel salty about being criticized by Spike Lee. Here is what Perry had to say on 60 minutes

Ten9Eight Trailer
In America, a kid drops out of high school every nine seconds. Imagine if they didn’t. This is the compelling question behind award-winning filmmaker Mary Mazzio’s newest project TEN9EIGHT, a thought provoking film which tells the inspirational stories of several inner city teens (of differing race, religion, and ethnicity) from Harlem to Compton and all points in between, as they compete in an annual business plan competition run by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE).

Racist photos on RNC’s Facebook page
Last week a Facebook user who called himself “Gee Dub” posted some crazy CRAZY racist photos with nauseating captions to the Republican National Committee’s Facebook photo page. The pictures were first noticed on Monday and stayed posted on the page for 5 days.

“Gee Dub” commented on the photo of Obama saying “Racism is necessary in our capitalistic society. To expose ourselves to the socialist idea of equality will surely destroy the American way of life.” ”Gee Dub” also claims to be black in his comment… ummm… yeah right! I can’t really tell if this is a person who is actually a racist or a person who was making a really poor attempt at satire of the Republican Party. You know, the thing about the internet and social networking sights is the crazies have a way to force people to pay attention to them. The fact that whoever is running the RNC Facebook page wasn’t monitoring close enough to shut these photos down is a little disturbing… its almost like nobody is monitoring what is going on with how the Republicans are communicating with the public these days. Just saying.
