What Kinda Guy Does Keri Hilson Like?

Keri Hilson

Keri Hilson is featured in the new issue of OK! Magazine where she talks about her ideal guy and reveals that her celebrity crush is Tyson Beckford.

On Her Type of guy:
She admits that she doesn’t want “that football player” type man. “He would have to know God, and stimulate mentality. You don’t have to be a smart man, but I would want you to be wise and pertain to your stature of life, working towards something and I think that’s very manly. There’s a difference between a boy and a man and you have to think about what you really want out of life”

On The Moment She Became Star Struck:
I met all of the Jacksons except Michael. I sang last year at the VMA awards/Jackson tribute and I sang “Who’s Loving You” and killed it and all the Jacksons came out, Joe, Katherine, everybody and they were all smiling while I was singing and I was performing for them and it was a real starstruck moment and I was like this is crazy.”

Tyson Beckford? Guess she likes em with a little sugar in tank.

Obama’s State of the Union in 5 Mins

In case you missed it and don’t feel like watching the whole thing, watch this 5 minute version from NYMag:

Yo, my man O-Brizzy is a straight comedian. He kept it so real. I appreciate that, and the American people did too; about 80% of the people who watched had a positive reaction to the presidents speech. I guess they “almost forgot he was black.” *blank stare*…ehh thanks Chris Matthews:

Mariah feat Ne-yo “Angels Cry”

Mariah feat Nicki Minaj “Up Out My Face”

I love you Mariah, but you really GOTTA STOP DRESSING LIKE A 17 YEAR OLD. Okay thanks, I’m done. On a personal note, I definitely feel her on the “when I’m done, I’m done” tip, that chorus might get sung to many a knee-grow this year.

“If we were two Lego blocks, even the Harvard graduating class of 2010 couldn’t put us back together again…” LMAO

Rihanna Sure Knows How to Pick Em

rihanna-matt-kemp-cabo-cuddling-07

If Rihanna was looking to get a new non-violent boyfriend, she sure as hell fucked up picking Matt Kemp. Matt’s ex-girlfriend, Felisha Terrell claims that Matt was violent during their relationship and she even had to get a restraining order against him June 2008. Felisha was quoted saying: “He is violent and I am afraid. He repeatedly made me scared and gets in my face.” She also said that he was once kicked out of the club for fighting with a woman.

As if that’s not bad enough, it turns out that back in high school (2002), while Matt was a star basketball and baseball player, he was accused of raping a 19-year old female along with two of his teammates.

A 19-year-old woman filed a report with Columbus police on Sunday morning alleging Williams, 18, Alexander, 17, and Matthew Kemp, 17 forced her into sexual conduct at the Columbus Hyatt Hotel at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning while two other players watched, according to The Oklahoman.

No charges have been filed and no arrests have been made. However, Columbus police have questioned Williams and Alexander.

During the investigation, Matt and his teammates were suspended from the team and the girl opted to not press charges. The DA also chose not to pursue the matter due to lack of evidence. So to be fair, Matt was never convicted of rape but damn RiRi aren’t you supposed to upgrade when you get a new boyfriend?

Actors and Musicians inspired and inspire to help Haiti

Ok, so in the last post I told you how you can help Haiti, but just in case that wasn’t enough and you need some convincing and some inspiration…
Our fellow bloggers (and recording artists… they’re multi-talented) Blogsworth and Prime Minis of ALLSMiLES made this track called Hold the World. It samples Lil’ Wayne and Eminem’s Drop the World. However, it puts a much more positive spin on the lyrics and is great inspiration not only for contributing to the Haiti relief effort, but also fitting for celebrating the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A great reminder of the responsibility each of us has to humanity.
Hold the World

Blogzworth & Prime Minis have a message for you

Its good to see that many artists are getting into the fray in helping bring attention and funds to the aid of Haiti.

Whatever you’re views might be on Lady Gaga, her heart seems to be in the right place. She is selling a shirt on her website 100 percent of the proceeds of which will go towards the relief effort. Also, she has pledged to donate all proceeds from merchandise sales at her January 24th Radio City Music Hall show.

A number of actors, including Meryl Streep (love her!), Olivia Wilde, and Josh Brolin are auctioning off the clothes they wore to Sunday night’s Golden Globes and will donate the money raised by the auction to Haitian relief.

On January 22nd there will be a telethon called Hope for Haiti in which artists will perform and speak to encourage proceeds for aid in Haiti. George Clooney, who will host the show along with Wyclef Jean and Anderson Cooper, says that over 40 artists will be in attendance (bet Kanye won’t be invited to this telethon, though). The show will be played on just about every station imaginable, including MTV, and will benefit Red Cross, Yele, UNICEF, Oxfam and Partners in Health. Additionally, many of the songs from Hope for Haiti artists will be available on iTunes with proceeds going to benefit the partner non-profits.

Now is the time to help Haiti. Here is how.

The devastation seen on TV in Haiti is overwhelming.  Up until now I have found it hard to even write about the situation. As the most empoverished nation in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti simply was not prepared to handle disaster.  However, I know that help is on the way because so many people are mobilizing and doing what they can to support the relief effort.  It is bad enough that the infrastructure had gotten to the state that it had been in and it is truly unfortunate that it took a disaster to bring much needed attention to this small nation.  Now that they’ve got our attention it is not only kind to help, but it is imperative.  How appropriate that this is Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend, a time in which we recall that devoting ourselves to helping and showing empathy to those in need is true humanity.  Here are just a few ways you can help with Haiti:

The threeKings NYC MLK Weekend All Black Affair (mentioned in an earlier post) will now be granting free admission to anybody bringing a printout receipt for a donation of at least $10 to Yele Haiti or American Red Cross to Sunday night’s party at Crimson.  A portion of the event proceeds will also be donated.

Other events include:

I know I barely gave you enough notice for this one, but just in case…

If you are less into events and more into giving directly, here are some reputable organizations to donate to.  There are organizations that are focused on just getting much needed supplies to Haiti, while others are organizing and sending medical teams, or focusing on taking care of the children.

American Red Cross
Care
Clinton Bush Haiti Fund
Direct Relief International
International Medial Corps
International Relief Teams
Better Future (Orphans) International
UNICEF

Kelis-1, PETA-0

kelis-fur

The wierdos over at PETA apparently sent Kelis a personalized letter after she wore the above fur coat and hat the other day. Kelis wasn’t having that so she wrote their asses back….funny stuff:

Good morning all!

Ok, so you’re gonna love this. The other day I got a personalized letter from PETA! Lol so after some thought I’ve decided to write one back. Goes a little something like this:

There is no humane way to kill anything, let me start there. It’s unfortunate but it’s part of life. With that being said, I would eat pterodactyl if you found some and you told me it was meaty and delicious. And after doing a very minimal amount of research……. I found out that the founder Ingrid Newkirk is completely batty. I had a feeling but she far exceeded my expectations. I mean certifiably insane! Lol this chicks will is nuts, google it – it’s a riot! Beyond the fact that I think she’s a diabetic, which means she needs insulin, which is taken from lab pigs (I know this because my sister happens to be in veterinary school), which would be completely hypocritical. It’s like don’t abuse animals unless it can help me.

I feel very strongly about a lot of things such as the sweatshops that spin cotton and the blood on their hands. Btw it’s not just the look of fur. It’s warm as hell and feels glorious, ever rubbed faux fur on your body? Nothing luxurious about that. Then the letter proceeded to name artist and designers who don’t wear real fur. Great! More for me! I don’t judge them, don’t judge me.

If I started wearing endangered animals like polar bear or orangutan then talk to me. (Which btw for the record I would not – I do believe in the preservation of endangered species) But the minks and chinchilla that quite honestly are rodents and if weren’t in the form of a coat I would demand they be put to death anyway are not an issue to me.

The death of high fashion. Ugh.

I eat meat, and in fact my mouth salivates as I type the word meat! And the paint throwing that’s just ridiculous! What if I was hurling Loubitons and Pierre Hardy’s at every sad poorly dressed person on the street? As right as I may be it’s just fanatical and crazy. And people have the right to feel as they please. What about art? Survival of the fittest. Natural selection? No let’s just let all the rodents run free and over take our cities. Oh wait they have, NY and LA in particular are infested! Why don’t u save them all from scavenging on the streets and ruining my evening strolls, take them home. Make them pets! Get off my back! Pun intended!

Underpaid minorities picking your vegetables, now that’s fine for you right? Please, fight for their rights. How about the poverty in the communities of brown people around the world. She had the nerve to say (and I quote) “get over it” talking of the issue of black people and slavery in this country verses cows being slaughtered. Is she kidding me? Lol yes she must be. Actually, she’s lucky most black people have real issues to worry about in the U.S and don’t give a crap what her delusional privileged opinions are. But she should try saying that again just for kicks n giggles on the corner of Adam Clayton Powell Blvd in Harlem n see how well people “get over it” lol.

If u want to preach do it about something worthwhile don’t waste my time trying to save the dang chipmunk.

Find a worthwhile cause like the women being maimed in these Middle Eastern countries. Or female circumcision. Or women’s rights here in America, we still get paid less for doing the same jobs as men. Quite honestly if you hate the world so much go live in the forest where no one else has to hear you complain about the perfectly good food chain the good Lord created. Everyone has the right to an opinion, and that’s mine on that! xoxo

The President, the princess, and the party this weekend are all black

Time for the annual threeKings NYC MLK Weekend Party.  The attire, just like the president and the newest Disney Princess is black.  Don’t party too hard, though.  You gotta get up the next day and do something to better your community, even if that means working on your come-up plan.

Jay-Z Addresses the Illuminati Rumors and Speaks on His Religious Beliefs

jayzilluminati

Jay-Z hit up the Angie Martinez Show on Hot 97 on Wednesday and finally addressed the rumors that he worships the devil:

“I don’t know where it started. I don’t know where it came from. I really think it’s really silly. For the record, I of course believe in God, but I believe in one God. If people must know my religious beliefs, I believe in one God. I don’t believe in religion. I don’t believe in Christians or Muslims. I think all that separates people. I think it’s one God. I think it’s all the same God, and I don’t believe in Hell. But as far as God, of course I believe in God. Am I a part of some sect or cult? That sounds stupid to me. It’s like ignorant to even say, and umm… I guess that’ll be the last time I address that. It’s ignorant to me”

I can’t even get in a golf club in Palm Springs. I’m from Marcy Projects. Just think about that? People that control the world?

Do you believe that those sort of organizations exist?
I think there are cliques of friends that control things. I don’t if there is a devil worshipping sect. That’s a little Tom hanks. I believe there are cliques of people that control the world…but that’s just natural process. I’m sure Obama has his people and everything is good but as far as how far people are taking it…

So you don’t intentionally do this to put people in a frenzy?
I’m an entertainer at the end of the day. Maybe I’ll push your buttons but you know…

Hmmm, what ya’ll think? I think the answers were a bit safe…that whole I believe in one God thing could easily be that Lucifer is the God he’s referring to lol. But mostly I think he’s just feeding into all this hype for p-u-b-l-i-c-i-t-y. But on real tho, the devil ain’t nothing to eff with so he might wanna chill with flirting with that imaginary line.

RIP Teddy Pendergrass

teddy-pendergrass

Legendary R&B artist, Teddy Pendergrass passed away on Wednesday night at the Bryn Mawr Hospital in Philadelphia at the age of 59. At this time, the specific cause of death is unknown but he had been ill for quite some time and hospitalized for the past month. (FYI- He’s also been in a wheelchair since 1982 after being paralyzed in a terrible car accident.) It seems like we keep losing one legend or talented person after the other. I guess our hopes of leaving that behind in 2009 have been thwarted.

I went to school with one of Teddy’s nephews, Matt so my condolences go out to him and his family during this difficult time.

In memory of Teddy, here is one of my favorite songs of his…

REST IN PEACE!!

Brooklyn Museum of Art’s Who Shot Rock & Roll

I have to say that Brooklyn Museum of Art consistently has exhibits that I am interested in.  I don’t know if you guys remember when I was raving about the Murakami exhibit about a year and some change ago, which actually turned out to be about 10 steps past crazy, but still really good.

Well, I have a new exhibit to rave about.  Until January 31st Brooklyn Museum of Art will have the exhibit Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History 1955 to the Present on display.  Who Shot Rock & Roll takes a look at some amazing photography that documents the power of imagery in rock and roll and brings to light the photographers’ influence and collaboration in displaying the artist.  Although the exhibit focuses on rock and roll artists you’ll find hip hop and pop artists amongst the photographs, too.  The pictures range from fresh to raw and surreal, but none are regular and all are rare.

Visit BrooklynMuseum.org for more info.

Michael Eric Dyson on Obama: “Like a black man runs from a cop”

Michael Eric Dyson gets a big “C’mon Son!” for this comment.  Once again, can President Obama run the country?  He can deal with every race thing under the sun when he is caking from all of his book deals and university graduation speeches after he is done being president.  All y’all need to calm down.  You too, Michael Eric Dyson.  Great way to make a point about dealing with race in a positive and constructive way by using de-constructive stereotypes.
