Harlem Restaurant and Retail Week

Harlem Restaurant Week

Introducing Harlem’s first ever Restaurant Week! Well, actually, it’s a month long…but so is Harlem Week (Oh well *Kanye shrug*). Starting February 15 until March 15 you can enjoy 3 course meals for $20.10 at participating Harlem eateries and specialty items for $20.10 at Harlem retailers. If that didn’t sound intriguing enough, $1 of each purchase will go to UNICEF for Haitian earthquake relief efforts.

Check out the Harlem Restaurant Week Participants (Links to the actual websites, followed by links to their Yelp.com profiles):

Harlem PoP: a pop-up shop in Harlem

I'm a big fan of the pop-up shop.  They always have the coolest stuff in high concentration and its sooo "limited time" that you get convinced to purchase something for an absurdly high price.  That's why I will definitely try to make a stop by Harlem PoP and will also definitely conveniently forget all of my credit cards.  Shopping, refreshments, and DJs all in a Harlem brownstone… definitely a dream come true.

Favorite NYC Holiday? BBQ Days!

Big Apple BBQ Block Party Santa
Santa, is that you?

BBQ OMG!! Its the most wonderful time of the year again!  My favorite holiday! The time of year when you can walk around with eyes shining full of wonder and joy… better than Christmas in July… its BBQ Days in June!

Ok, enough with super fat kid comments… I know its not actually a holiday, but I really do love this weekend because it is the Snapple Big Apple Barbecue Block Party  and the powers that be (Santa?) have decided that it will have extended hours this year.  The BBQ throw down will go down this weekend, June 13 & 14, in Madison Square Park.  15 pit masters from NYC and all over the US will be cooking up meat from 11am to 7pm and the $8 a plate is definitely worth it.  So even though the only jolly fat men will be the ones eating or cooking up something behind the grill you can see why this is a most magical event.

Unlike Christmas where there's a chance you won't get the present you want, the only thing to be sad about here is the fact that they've already run out of fast passes.  Yes, its that serious.
