iKaraoke for Your iPod

ikaraoke

If you’re anything like me, you like to sing along with music on your iPod like your the next Mariah or something. Now with the new iKaraoke software you can do just that.

iKaraoke’s all-in-one microphone/processor isolates the lead vocal track in your favorite music and fades it, giving your voice room to move up front and make that favorite tune yours.

With great talent comes great responsibility; don’t keep it hidden. Plug iKaraoke into your home or auto stereo through your stereo’s Auxiliary Audio In (sometimes called Line In). Use iKaraoke’s mic to start, stop, skip and repeat the music, control volume. It’s your tunes as only you can sing them.

Yup, that’s pretty dope.

Causecast: Non-profits meet New Media

Everyone is always going on and on about how the internet is changing the world.  Nobody believes in that change and potential for change more than Get Fresh Daily, and there are quite a few websites that really puts that into perspective.  One such website is Causecast.org

Causecast is a website that uses new media like webcasts, social media, and mobile technology to be a one-stop-shop for the caring, preachy, zealot, crunchy, socially conscious, tree hugger, social activists (you know, people like us).  Their official tagline is that they are an “interactive community that connects individuals, leaders, celebrities, and brands to make a positive impact in the world.”  I’m always excited about a cause, but Causecast can get you really engaged with your favorite cause, give you a resource to find out more about a cause or help you find new causes.  Other features include a weekly newsletter, interviews about social change with musicians, a How to Change the World guide that is updated every Wednesday, etc.  Also, the most popular causes have their own pages.   Its a lot of what I like to call philathro-tainment and its exactly how you would always like to see the internet being used.

The Reason Your iPhone Has Been Moody Lately…

You may have noticed that your 3G iPhone has been sporting some serious tude recently? Well it's probably because she's pissed that Apple has decided to upgrade the iPod Nano with a video camera but not her.

Ipod-nano-video-camera

Today, the iPod Nano got revamped with with a camera that shoots live video. It is available in a variety of colors. The 8GB model is $149 and the 16BG is $179.

Surpringsly iPod nano is the only iPod that Apple has chosen to have this feature but yet it can't shoot still photos. Wierd, I know.

Anywho, iPhones everywhere are wondering what the fuck gives. iPhone is a top shelf smartphone , Nano is just some silly little music player so who exactly did Nano sleep with in order to get this feature that iPhone has been craving for so long?

Welp, there ya have it. Best thing you can do is to soothe your iPhone by letting her know that no video camera feature can trump all the I.got.this.phone.game.on.lock swag that she beholds. At the end of the day, iPhone is still Beyonce and iPod nano is merely Tierra Mari.

Netogether… East Coast meets West Coast

Netogether The Shack Big Computer

You remember that commercial where people in Japan are waving to people in some other place (I really forget where) over a big screen computer screen?  I always thought that would be so fly- having two worlds in one place at one time- so I'm really excited to go experience that in Time Square this weekend where Radio Shack a.k.a. The Shack (what they want us to call it now… yeah, ok) is sponsoring (who woulda thought that Radio Shack would come out this recession with enough money to re-brand and sponsor this type of gimmick?) a "Netogether" which means 2 screens setup where people in one place can simultaneously experience things that are going on in another place.

In this case it is New York and San Francisco, which to me is really like having the best of both worlds.  For the next 3 days there will be interactive events like performances and yoga classes.  If you go to the website for the Netogether you can even schedule time to meet a friend.  If you're like me and the idea of Time Square and all of its tourists kinda makes your stomach turn you can go also go on the website to view a live feed that also includes messages from other watchers.  Too much fun.  Visit RadioShack.com/TheShack

Nikon’s New Coolpix Camera With a Built-In Projector

S1000pj_BK_sml -nikon

I thought this was pretty cool. Nikon is releasing a new 12.1 megapixel digital camera, the Coolpix S1000pj. The hot stand out feature about this camera is that it has a built-in projector.

That's freakin awesome! How many times have you recorded a video of your drunk friend wylin out one weekend and when it comes time to show your other friends, either a) you have 6 people crowded around a measley 2.5 inch display screen or b) your camera gets the puff puff pass treatment and these fools end up killing your battery. Not anymore son because BOOM, project that shit on the wall and now you have insta-AMC movie time wherever you go.

More info here

The Nikon Coopix S1000pj is set to ship to stores in September 09 for approx. $430 and will be available in Matte Black.

Phone-tour RIM announced recently that Sprint and Verizon will be getting new Blackberries this summer.

About damn time! I was so sick of AT&T having all the hot phones.

Iran’s Reaction to Elections all Over the Web

The great thing about Twitter and YouTube is that there is a new international free speech that allows user to share, which has been making a lot of user to user news that we definitely wouldn't get we were only watching the news.  The best recent example is all of the craziness going down with the Iranian elections right now.  With the re-election of controversial Iranian Pres. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the U.S. government is trying to take a very quiet stance on the Iranian elections and I'm sure the news media would reflect that.  The major opposition candidate has a large following amongst the amongst urbanites who turned out strong for voting, but the opposition candidates seems to have lost by a large amount.  Unlike Bush, who loooooved to pass judgement on somebody's stolen elections (ahem), Obama has only said that he's disturbed about the resulting violence.

With all of the action and buzz that has been going on with YouTube and Twitter people are getting on the minute descriptions of protests, violence, and feelings on the election's outcome.  #IranElections and Tehran have been major trending topics on Twitter over the last few days, with many people are saying that the elections were stolen and describing protests.  In Iran the government has apparently blocked Twitter because of the amount of chatter, organization of protests, and bad publicity it is giving them.

Better use of you computer

Apple Store Workshop

Did you get a new computer for Christmas?  Do you have a bunch of features on your current computer that you don't know how to use?  Or maybe you just want to start learning a little about doing basic art and design on your computer.  There are tons of expensive courses that you can take at almost any of the colleges in NYC, but who really wants to do that for a whole semester?  Well, you can do what I'm planning on doing to brush up on some web design skills… a workshop at the Apple Store.  If you have a new Mac or iPhone and are a first time user its cool because you can take a workshop on getting started with the Mac, but you don't even have to be a Mac user to get some use out the workshops.  You can take a workshop in basic web design or in Adobe Photoshop.  And… drum roll… its free.  Go to the Fifth Ave. Apple Retail Store website to reserve a spot.

New Amazon “photo matching” iPhone App

This is pretty cool from Marketing Profs.:

Amazoniphone

Just when you've mastered the whole key word concept, along
comes—key pictures? Online retailer Amazon.com has released a free
downloadable mobile application for the iPhone and iPod touch that
enables shoppers to search for products to purchase online by simply
snapping photos of them. If you like your co-worker's shoes, snap a
shot. If you want that book, but wonder if Amazon has it cheaper, snap
a shot.

A feature called Amazon Remembers
will automatically upload that photo to Amazon.com, which then uses
Mechanical Turks (freelancers around the world) to "search" for
products pictured online similar to the one in the photo. Users can
then purchase the items displayed in the results list, or "remember"
them for later by saving them in their Amazon accounts.

The search process can take up to 24 hours, but bloggers who have tested the application have received results
in as little as 5 minutes. And while other services like SnapTell will
search pictures, Amazon boosts its effectiveness by having live people
do the searching. The human element seems to be paying off.

Sam Hall, director of Amazon Mobile, sums up the service: "[With]
Amazon Remembers … [shoppers] … can build visual lists of things they
want to remember, buy, or … learn more about."
